Sharing Wine and Food at the Table – November 19, 2020 at 7pm E

Join the Urban Wine Club on Thursday, November 19th at 7:00 p.m. for a fun and informative webinar about an excellent (2017) French red wine that just arrived from Château Barbebelle in Provence. Cuvée Madeleine Rouge was specially made as part of the À Table! Project (French for “come to the table”), a project created to raise awareness about PANDAS, a neurological disorder broadly referred to as basal ganglia encephalitis that is triggered by Streptococcus.

The Urban Wine Club is helping to raise awareness about PANDAS, and a related disorder PANS, by bringing people “to the table” to share wine, food, and conversation. Joined by some nationally renowned experts in the PANDAS/PANS field, you will learn how to make a simple and flavorful meal, taste some wonderful Provence wine, discuss the pairing – and learn about these debilitating disorders that affect children, adolescents, and young adults.  And it is free to attend!

Proceeds from the sales of the wine will be donated to The Alex Manfull Memorial Fund, which is dedicated to supporting education and research that furthers the understanding of these disorders. The Cork Stop/Urban Wine Club is only one of two outlets in the United States selling this wine.

Learn how to create a delicious Moroccan spiced salmon with bell pepper couscous to accompany this wine!  David Scott Allen, creator and editor of the popular food blog Cocoa & Lavender, will lead a cooking demonstration that is sure to inspire you to make this salmon dish on your own!

Cuvée Madeleine (2017) Rouge is a well-integrated blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate’s best vines. Earthy and black fruit aromas intermingle with notes of garrigue, cherry, and raspberries and waft from the glass.  The palate, characterized by blackberry and licorice, give way to a lovely finish. Let’s see what you taste as we sip together.

William Manfull and Susan Newman Manfull (editor of Provence WineZine), who lost their only child to PANDAS, will “come to the table” to talk about the wine and why they founded The Alex Manfull Memorial Fund, part of PANDAS Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

They will be joined in conversation by these professionals in the PANDAS/PANS field as we all come to the table: Sheilah Gauch, LICSW, Principal of Dearborn Academy, and co-founder of Mass Coalition for PANS/PANDAS Legislation; Melissa McCormack, MD, PhD, pediatrician and owner of Wholistic Pediatricians, a primary care pediatric practice in Winchester, MA that accepts patients with PANDAS/PANS; and Diana Pohlman, founder and Executive Director of PANDAS Network, a nationwide resource for all those affected by PANDAS/PANS as well as for practitioners.

Château Barbebelle (2017) Cuvée Madeleine (aka Alex’s wine) may be purchased at The Cork Stop (1593 Osgood Street, North Andover, MA 01845) or online (www.urbanwineclub.co). Delivery service may be arranged in the Boston area (call 978.655.8699). (The first shipment sold out in hours!)
